For Shenmo Education, that journey began in 1998 in China, when founder Li Mianjun established an educational organisation focused on sharing the benefits of abacus learning.
Beginning with just four children in a classroom, Shenmo gradually expanded its educational activities and developed a wider international presence.
Today, the organisation has grown into an international education network dedicated to helping children develop their abilities through structured learning experiences.
The Meaning Behind Shenmo
The name Shenmo combines two Chinese characters.
“Shen” represents something magical or extraordinary, while “Mo” is associated with ink and wisdom.
Together, they express the idea of “Magical Wisdom”, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to education and personal development.
From Abacus Learning to Broader Education
Abacus Mental Arithmetic remains a central part of Shenmo’s international educational identity.
The programme introduces mathematical concepts through traditional calculation techniques and progressive mental arithmetic practice.
Over time, Shenmo has also developed a broader educational curriculum including creative arts, calligraphy, language activities and attention training.
These programmes reflect a shared philosophy of encouraging children to learn through participation, practice and exploration.
